Hi,

You could also try to use the Matlab/Octave-function that I created for converting voxelized phantoms into Interfile or MetaImage files for GATE:
https://github.com/villekf/OMEGA/blob/master/source/Voxelized_phantom_handle.m

You'll need either https://github.com/villekf/OMEGA/blob/master/source/saveInterfile.m or https://github.com/villekf/OMEGA/blob/master/source/saveMetaImage.m as well.

I have only used the XCAT/MOBY-phantoms so far so I'm not 100% sure that the Zubal phantom will work as well.

You can convert the .dat file into any format you need by MATLAB and then you could make conversion among different medical image formats (like .img, .nii, etc) using MedCon or ImageJ.
