Dear Gate users,

I have the some question as Mr. Nícollas.
How can I estimate the Dose with only a few particles simulated?
Thanks in advance,

Daniel Franzé

Dear Sarrut,

Can we assume the dose is linear to scale?

My question is because I would like to simulate the accumulated dose due to a radiotracer decaying along the time.

Regards,

I

Hello,

you should simulate much less particles (say, few hours of computing time) then scale the results ...

Dear Sarrut,
I'm going to explain better my work.
I would like to calculate the dose maps (in Gy) in cylinders around a 99mTc source during a long period of time (30minutes), considering the decay along this period.
However, it is impossible to simulate this activity and time, because the simulation will take years in our cluster (40G RAM x 2 clusters)...
My script is attached to this message.
Our configuration is a set of tubes (7cm height and 1.5 cm diameter) filled with a polymer, around a point source (1 Ci of activity) in different distances.
Our proposal is to compare the simulation with an experimental setting.
I appreciate a lot your attention and help.
Regards,

Dear David,
I thought i could only do this for images. For example, if I merge five dose maps with 0.2 Ci will I have a dose map of 1 Ci ?

yes ! btw is it advised use Gy no Ci ;)

David

Hello,

no parallelization specific to one actor, but you can always launch the same Gate simulation in parallel provided that you don't use the same random seed number (use: /gate/random/setEngineSeed auto). You will need to merge all outputs at the end of all simulations.

Sincerely,
David

Dear Gate users!
I would like to ask if someone knows if there's anyway to parallelize the DoseActor in GATE v7.1. I want to simulate 99m-Tc sources with 1Ci of activity on the university cluster but the time of simulations it is too long.
I appreciate any help in advance!
