yes, it was chosen to randomly pick a spot : it allows to stop the
simulation at any time without bias. It is very convenient. However, you
are right, if you are interested in spot by spot dose, it cannot be done
that way.

the solution is to make some modification to the code
of GateSourceTPSPencilBeam.cc. Probably in the GenerateVertex function. You
also need to code a way to determine how many proton you want by spot.

the ParticleName is in fact the particle type ("e-" or "gamma"). If I
understand correctly, you need the ID of the particle. For that you need
both the TrackID and the EventID. Those both information are not included
in the 6.2 version, but are in the development version (will be available
soon).
