[Gate-users] Digitizer: Coincidences depth

Dear Antoine and Ben,
A few years back, I was wondering about the same question. I estimated the optimal value by simulating different setDepth values based on the scanner config I was using. My simulation simulated a Discovery MI scanner geometry, and for that scanner, I found that setDepth value of 2 is optimal. Results are here: Monte Carlo evaluation of hypothetical long axial field‐of‐view PET scanner using GE Discovery MI PET front‐end architecture

So, my suggestion is to try setDepth values of 2, 3, and 4 (say, based on scanner config) and compare your count rates plot with the scanner measurement data, which would tell you which value you should take for further simulations.

  Dear Gate users,

I am also interested in this parameter, i.e. the /gate/digitizer/Coincidences/setDepth.
Could you provide more information about it?

  Thanks in advance,
  Best regards, Ben

 Dear GATE users,
Could you please provide some information about the use of the /gate/digitizer/Coincidences/setDepth digitizer parameter? This parameter is very briefly described here, but I am not sure about its effect and the value to be used (should it be constrained by the readout depth for example?).
  Thank you, Antoine
