Hello,
Now that the previous OpenGate meeting is over (see here for all
presentations <https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/27057/contributions>), and
following a suggestion from a user (sorry I cannot remember who), I will
try to provide a short status of the python-GATE project, ideally every 1
or 2 months.
You probably now know the basic ideas of the future GATE 10.x series that
will be based both on Python & C++. The justification for this new project
can be found here
<https://gam-gate.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user_guide.html#why-this-new-project>
and
some details have been presented
<https://indico.in2p3.fr/event/27057/contributions/110955>.
*Status:*
- *geometry*: basic volumes (Box, Sphere etc) are available. First
version of Boolean volumes also ; however it could change as it is not
fully satisfactory. Can be tested with test016
- *physics*: G4 physics lists, standard production cuts, ion decay.
Basic use of spliting/russian roulette.
- *source*: generic, voxelized, half-life decay, beta+ spectra, confined
source. GAN linac source (test034)
- *scorers*: stats, DoseActor, PhaseSpaceActor, HitsCollectionActor,
HitsAdderActor, HitsEnergyWindowActor, HitsProjectionActor, MotionVolume
- https://github.com/OpenGATE/gam-gate/wiki
Globally, simple dose related simulations (Linac, EBRT, TRT, etc) should be
feasible almost like the current GATE 9.x series. The advanced sources of
particles are not yet included: PBS proton source, PhaseSpaceSource, fast
Y90, back-to-back gamma etc. Advanced cuts (tracking cuts, step limiter)
are not yet available. LET, TLE, ARF, FFD actors are not available.
Basic imaging simulation should also be feasible up to the Hits level only,
i.e. without digitizer chain. Optical simulation is not available. EM field
neither.
*Ongoing:*
- fast visualisation of voxelized volume with 3 slices
- offline digitizer
- SPECT GAN source

As always, feedback is very welcome. Do not hesitate to contact us if you
want to participate.
Cheers,
David
