[Gate-users] A new web site for GATE

HI Asra, dear all,
  
​I just had a look at the "mailing list" page of the website and I agree that it could be improved.

​The statement:
  
​"Please use a search engine to check if your question has already been answered before posting to the mailing-list. Note that on many search engines you can restrict your search to our website using the "site:URL" prefix, e.g. site:lists.opengatecollaboration.org carbon ions"
  
​
  
​It is useful and the way to go to look for existing questions, Asra. But it would be nice to have this more prominently displayed on the page. Maybe one could include a custom google search box where the user inserts the keywords and the "site:lists.opengatecollaboration.org" is automatically prepended?
  
  
So ideally, below the "subscribe" button, just put a
  
​"Search mailing list:
  
​[ SEARCH BOX]"​​
  
​
  
​All the verbose background information should go below. Remove the sentence "If you have a question, it is quite possible that it has been asked before, and that the answers and discussions about it are stored in the GATE-users archive system." - it is redundant and the archive system is of little use in my opinion because of its poor structure. A custom google search seems better.
