Greetings,
Please keep the questions/answers to the mailing list so that everyone can contribute and gain from the exchange of information.
Like I said previously, I have never simulated optical photon in Gate. Thus, I am ill equipped to provided much insight.
However, a quick glance at the results given by "site:lists.opengatecollaboration.org<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Flists.opengatecollaboration.org%2F&data=02%7C01%7CMaxime.Toussaint%40usherbrooke.ca%7C8e05562a7fc84596f52108d811905545%7C3a5a8744593545f99423b32c3a5de082%7C0%7C0%7C637278658888738299&sdata=lNG%2BUGiAAlKeg02B%2BIMBp2lcyDLFMjZTxnJugl7isKo%3D&reserved=0> optical" google search seems to provide some answers to your questions. I leave it to you to parse the relevant information since I have never used these options.
Have a nice day,
Maxime Toussaint

Dear Maxime Toussaint,
Thank you for your reply. I think I missed some information.
I have tried both optical simulation and the GATE simulation using a cylindricalPET system, but still can’t get the detection time at the sensor.
This is what I have understood and tried optical simulation.
If I simulate optical simulation I get the information of the photons reacted in the crystal. From optical simulation I can get the photon's time stamp, photon's tracklocaltime, photon's track length and the momentum direction, which is different from GATE simulation.
I guess it could have some relation of tracklocaltime and the detection time but still not the detected time...
Could you explain a little bit more about how you could get the detection time by the optical simulation? Anything would be helpful.
Thank you again.
Regards
Jebhin

Greetings,
From what I understand from your email, I think you didn't "ask" Gate to simulate optical photons. If I am right, please read the corresponding section in the Gate wiki. Else, please describe which part of that section didn't work for you. (Note: I can't help you further: I have never used that tool. I just remembered that it was described in the Gate wiki.)
If you encounter any problems, I invite you to first look into the mailling list archive, via "site:lists.opengatecollaboration.org<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Flists.opengatecollaboration.org%2F&data=02%7C01%7CMaxime.Toussaint%40usherbrooke.ca%7C8e05562a7fc84596f52108d811905545%7C3a5a8744593545f99423b32c3a5de082%7C0%7C0%7C637278658888738299&sdata=lNG%2BUGiAAlKeg02B%2BIMBp2lcyDLFMjZTxnJugl7isKo%3D&reserved=0> optical" with google, to see if your questions were already answered.
Have a nice day,
Maxime Toussaint

Objet : [Gate-users] How can I get the detected time at the photosensor?
Dear Gate users,
I'm trying to get the detection time at the photosensor using GATE v8.0 and I'm having some problems.
I guess in the simulation I only can get the information of the time stamps of the gamma rays, but I want to know the time when the gamma ray is detected at the photosensor not when the gamma ray reacted in the crystal.
Am I missing something?
Does anyone know how can I get the idea? I think anything will be helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
