[Gate-users] Cannot compile ECAT7

Hi all,

When trying to make utility programs for ECAT in the 'utils' directory, I
get the following output:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lsocket
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Makefile:35: recipe for target 'matlist' failed
make: *** [matlist] Error 1

I can build the main library, but the utility programs as listed in the
compilation instructions return this error.
Anybody have experience troubleshooting this issue?
