Following those steps will help you a lot. Also make sure you have the required packages installed: http://wiki.opengatecollaboration.org/index.php/Package_Requirements

I do not know whether Gate works with geant4-10. Gate 7 recommends using geant4-9.6.p03 as given on http://wiki.opengatecollaboration.org/index.php/InstallationGuideV7.0.

Hello all,

I'm a beginner with geant4 and gate I'm working with ubuntu 14.04, I installed geant4_10_01, after I installed the CERN ROOT i didn't know how to install gate because there is not enough documentation and i didn't really understand very well the Installation guide in the site . I wonder if you can help me with the instructions to install gate  and i would like to know what's the difference between gate7.0 and gate6.2 and which is the more compatible with geant4_10_01.
