[Gate-users] Problems with output image from example_ARF

Dear Leda,
if I understand the use of ARF correctly, this technique implements
a considerable improvement in time usually needed to run
a "classical” Gate simulation. It is not a “normal” GATE run, which
provides you with all the information which usually is contained
in a root file and which takes long to generate. The output from the
ARF is the PROJECTION.
Maybe it is possible that you create a root file in parallel with ARF
when you “generate” the ARF-data with the supplied .mac file,
but I haven’t tried it and the real experts should better respond
to you question.

I tried to add the following lines in useARFTAbles.mac:
/gate/output/root/enable
/gate/output/root/setFileName output
/gate/output/root/setRootSinglesFlag 1
but I can’t obtain the right output and spectra.

sorry for the delay! I had some busy days, but I now can point
you to a solution. As you can see in the attached files, I specified
the image type as 64-bit real. I found it by calculating the number of
expected byte in the projection file (*.sin) and unlike what is given in the
header file, this image type seems to be the one that provides with
the expected image from a point source. In the case I have attached,
I have reduced the number of heads to just a single one, to have
a more simple situation. But I also checked it for 4 heads and the
result is fine. Please try with your data.

to have a direkt look at the output. Did you also produce
root-files and did you look at the data through ROOT to check
they look consistent?
