Dear GATE-users,
thanks to all who replied to my request, in the end I solved the problem!
To let you know what I did:
> You command is /gate/output/ascii/setFileName gate

> While you claim that gateSingles.dat is empty – your file should be probably gate.dat. Sorry to suspect such simple error, but… Besides I would try to replace “gate” filename with something more different from Gate application filenames, for something like “stubborn”.

This didn't make any difference. The filename is "gateSingles.dat" and there is no file called "gate.dat". When I renamed it to "stubborn" the filename was "stubbornSingles.dat" and also empty.

Also I would double check or even comment out the line /gate/output/ascii/setSingleMask as the mask you put is really complicated. I would set the simulation time to very short one, to be sure you are not overfeeding an ascii file above 1.8GB, than I would enable ascii output for hits. If hits are there, singles should also be; if there is no singles, there should be no hits either.

This didn't make any difference neither. The mask works fine and the files are much much smaller than 1.8GB. By the way I disabled Hits-output (/gate/output/ascii/setOutFileHitsFlag 0). Thanks to Marcin Balcerzyk for these hints.

Thanks to Navid for this hint, but it didn't change anything.
What solved my problem in the end was simply to (load "visu.mac" and) DISABLE the command
"/vis/open OGLSX"
INSTEAD OF SETTING
"/vis/disable"!
That made the difference and the simulations run fine without visualization.
Can anybody tell me what exactly the intention of the command "/vis/disable" is?
Kind regards,
Philipp Matthies
