>From my experience you have the error message because you don't have the OpenGL libraries in your computer. If you don't need the visualization tool, you just need to compile the Geant4 without the vizualisation options. If you want to have the vizualisation, install a regular version of OpenGL and normally it will work fine.
Before the GATE installation i recommend you to compile and run the novice examples on the Geant4 folders!

After nuking the whole lot, and reinstalling from the tar balls, I've managed to get geant to look like it installs, with only a few error messages at the end:


Example error set:

This set of messages occurs for another 20+ files listed in the "In file included from src/G4Open XXXXXXXXXX.cc" line, with the errors the same.

then I get the "not correctly installed" error message at the end 

Any hints?
