I made the migration too and all compiled fine, i.e. aprrox 14 cc and hh 
files, so it was very quick. However, my first install was
with Gate 2.2.0 and Geant 4.8.0, but  I had G4Material:GetMaterial() 
which returned null pointer. Thus I found in the Gate mailling
that it could related to Geant version. So, I've switched to Geant 
4.7.0.p01 and all benchmarks work fine now. Have you obtained
those Material errors with Geant 4.8.0 ? If not, have you tweaked 
something during the installation process.
