[gate-users] Bi-modality in one simulation

Hello Thomas,
I suppose that you need to record the hit informations of your additional
box so this box should be declared as a crystalID and be attached to a level
of a system. In order to be attached to the system of the mu-PET, the volume
of this box should be a daughter of some existing volume of this
mu-PET...and this is probably not the case. It seems that your box is close
to the mu-PET but not inside. The best solution would be to rebuilt the
geometry of the mu-PET in order to add a level for your box (but the box
dont have probably the same repetition than the detector heads of the
mu-PET, so this can be not an easy task...)
There is perhaps another solution but I have never tested it (so I don't
know if it can work). The world can have 2 different daughters which are two
different systems. But you will have to make your own digitizer after the
simulation combining the hits from the two systems.
If you want, we can discuss by phone (01 69 08 33 68) it can be easier.
Hope that can help :-)
Sophie

Objet : [gate-users] Bi-modality in one simulation
Dear all,
Just a basic question concerning the possibility to simulate two types
of detector in one simulation.
Is it possible to attach two different geometries (say a cylindricalPET
+ a box for instance) with each a different detection medium ?
We would like to add to an already simulated µPET device a new detection
medium whose geometry is defined as a box and coupled to one side of the
µPET.
My question is basically, is it possible to perform such a simulation
without too much effort (i.e. by adding a specific class or deriving an
existing class) ?
Thank you so much for your help
