Hi Þebnem,
I think your problem is in packages (rpm) you have to install a rpm it's xorg-x11-devel.version....rpm  & xorg-x11-static-devel.version....rpm because i think root search for libraries /usr/X11R6/libX11 & /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h and you have them

Dear colleagues ,

I have studied with SUSE 9.1 , but intallation of root package creates some
problems such as ;

linux:/Volumes/sebnem/root # ./configure
üConfiguring for linux
Checking for libX11 ... no
configure: libX11 (package x11-devel) MUST be installed.

I would be grateful if any member of the Open GATE Collaboration could inform me
about installation of libX11 .

I had lot of problems till I managed to compile ROOT on SuSe9.1. If you
like I can send you my compiled version of ROOT. Good luck.

That says that you should install the x11-devel package (using YaST on
SuSE). However, if you don't know what that is, I would give up right away.
