The answer is "it depends" on your application.

For a more elaborate answer, see section 2.1.2 of the documentation in [1]. Note: I found the section by using the "Quick Search" ?box? in [1] with the keyword "attachPhantomSD". Do not hesitate to use the documentation. If you find there is something missing in it, you can even suggest a modification (see Documentation in [2])

Dear Gate users,
Some very simple questions, do we need to use "attachPhantomSD" for any volume we define in GATE or not? If not where should I use that command and where should not? What is the impact of that command on the running time?
I hope someone responds to these questions.
