[Gate-users] Fluorescence and scintillation

Dear GATE's users,

I am coming back to you, always about the same problem I have had for
several weeks (mouths..) : the simulation of radioluminescence of air by
alpha particles. I would like to simulate the emission of UV photons from
the interaction of secondary electrons with air (the electrons are coming
from successive ionisation of air by alpha particles).

By the help of the documentation (
https://opengate.readthedocs.io/en/latest/general.html) I tried 2
differents ways :

- First one, the use of fluorescence phenomenon explained here in the 5.4.4
section
https://opengate.readthedocs.io/en/latest/generating_and_tracking_optical_photons.html#defining-material-properties
Nothing happens. No optical photons are emitted, from the alpha particles
interactions nor from the secondary electrons interactions. Is this kind of
phenomenon available only for photons as a primary event ?

- Second one, the use of scintillation phenomenon, explained here in the
5.4.1 section :
https://opengate.readthedocs.io/en/latest/generating_and_tracking_optical_photons.html#scintillation
In this case, I succeed to produce optical photon, but following alpha and
electrons interactions. I would like to produce optical photons only from
electrons interactions.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix my problem ?
