Hi Houda,
I have no idea about the optical properties of your scintillator (BCF12) neither I’ve used GATE v9 for optical transport. However, what I could see in your Materials.xlm file is that there’s no information about the emission spectrum of the BCF12 (i.e. fast component and/or slow component). Once you include it, you should be able to produce the optical photons and visualise them using the Qt.
About tracking your optical photons within the fibre, you’ll need to define it as a GATE sensitive detector and attach a detector surface to your SiPM volume (so you can actually detect them).
Cheers,
Francisco

Subject: [Gate-users] Fw: scintillating fiber question
Dear Gate Users,
I'am Houda, PhD student, actually i work with Gate to simulate scintillating fiber but i find some obstacles, i need your help please.
my fiber is a multi-clad (two cladd), both cladding is composed of PMMA, the core is composed of (99%) polystyrène and (1%) paraterphenyl (the core material is named in the macro BCF12). The core is scintillating.
after installing 9th version of Gate, i wrote my macro which is attached, and i add optical properties of BCF12 to materials.xml, i activate scintllation process in physics, after verify geometry, i want to verify the scintillation process, so in the visualization i can't see the scintilating photons, can you please help me, i don't know if i make some error, my visualization is in Qt mode.
I want also to save all photons created in the fiber and detected by an elecronic device (Silicon photomultiplier), can you give me advice?
Thank you so much in advance
Best Regards
Nor El Houda
