[Gate-users] voxelized simulation, very slow!

Dear Parisa,

I've just started to use Gate with voxelized geometries and phantoms and my simulations are also very slow. But in my case - the more experiences users please correct me if I'm wrong - the initialization is not the problem. I am using this actor with my simulations:
/gate/actor/addActor SimulationStatisticActor stat
/gate/actor/stat/save stat-NAME.txt
/gate/actor/stat/saveEveryNSeconds 60

The "ElapsedTime" since simulation start is scored in the resulting textfile, and there is also a line giving the "ElapsedTimeWoInit" - by subtracting these to lines, you should get the time of the initialization of your simulation. In my case it's always less than 1 minute, and I am simulating matrix sizes of 256x256x256 with small voxel sizes. I hope this helps you at least a little bit.

Best,
Julia

Betreff: [Gate-users] voxelized simulation, very slow!

Dear Gate users,

Those who have experience with voxelized source and phantom in Gate: is it normal that it runs so slow? I just started with it. First I tried a phantom/source with very few voxels. It was relatively slow. Then I enhanced the resolution of the phantom/source (i.e. increased the number of voxels), and it is about 24 hours, yet I don't see any progress in the simulation!
Apparently, initializing the simulation takes so much time for voxelized cases, right?

With kind regards,

Parisa
