Dear Catherine,

Without some more information about what you are trying to do, it is difficult for someone to provide recommendations about suitable physics options.

You may have more luck in the Geant4 User Forums on “Physics Lists"
     http://hypernews.slac.stanford.edu/HyperNews/geant4/get/phys-list.html
or maybe other related topics
     http://hypernews.slac.stanford.edu/HyperNews/geant4/cindex

e.g. from the one on electromagnetic physics, about two years ago ( 9 Feb 2017 ) entitled “Re: which model for ~1 MeV alpha particles in gas “, there was an answer at http://hypernews.slac.stanford.edu/HyperNews/geant4/get/emprocess/1457/1.html

Best regards,
John

Hi everyone,

I've been running a simulation with an alpha particle, but the simulation runs very slowly. Is there any way to speed up the simulation by changing the PhysicsList. I use the following physics process and source:

/gate/physics/addPhysicsList emstandard
/gate/physics/addProcess RadioactiveDecay
/gate/physics/addAtomDeexcitation
/gate/physics/processList Enabled
/gate/physics/processList Initialized
/gate/run/initialize

/gate/source/sourceRa/gps/particle ion
/gate/source/sourceRa/gps/ion 88 223 0 0
/gate/source/sourceRa/setForcedUnstableFlag true
/gate/source/sourceRa/useDefaultHalfLife
/gate/source/sourceRa/gps/monoenergy 0. keV
/gate/source/sourceRa/gps/angtype iso
/gate/source/sourceRa/gps/confine NULL

Best Regards

Catherine Costa
