Dear Gate-users,

We are almost ready to release the next Gate version (V8.0). As you
know, it will be based on the current "develop" branch of our Git
repository (https://github.com/OpenGATE/Gate). It should be released by
the second or third week of April so there is still time to propose
changes or bug fixes by creating GitHub pull requests. Remember that
detailed instructions for contributing to the Gate source code using
GitHub can be found on the website
(http://www.opengatecollaboration.org/sites/default/files/WorshopGATEMIC2016-AD.pdf).

Otherwise, we would like to bring to your attention an important change.
We have created a new repository to hold the whole examples which were
so far located under /examples /folder of the Gate source code
distribution.

1) This repository is open and publicly available on GitHub as part of
the OpenGATE collaboration organization. Named /Gate-contrib/
(https://github.com/OpenGATE/GateContrib), you will find it next to the
/Gate /repository (https://github.com/OpenGATE/Gate).

2) Each example contains macros together with associated data (binary
files), stored using a Git extension named /Git LFS/. To access these
data, you must install this extension before cloning the repository (see
how to install it reading
https://github.com/OpenGATE/GateContrib/blob/master/readme.md).

3) As a consequence, we shortly plan to definitely remove /examples /and
/MacroFile_Example/ folders from the Gate source code repository. Please
contact me if these changes are a problem for you.

Best regards,

Albertine, on behalf of the OpenGATE collaboration
