Dear All,

We are delighted to announce our first official release of our Synergistic Image Reconstruction Framework SIRF (v0.9.0), the first software output of CCP PETMR http://www.ccppetmr.ac.uk, a network related to synergistic PET/MR reconstruction led by UCL, KCL and Manchester.

SIRF is Open Source software (currently GPL but Apache 2.0 in the near future) and provides a MATLAB and Python framework for synergistic PET/MR reconstruction. SIRF builds on top of well-validated open source packages (currently STIR and Gadgetron). The released version provides the main framework and already supports MR data from the Siemens mMR. Further support for acquired data will be added over the next few months.

Please visit http://www.ccppetmr.ac.uk/softwareframework.html for further information, including a link to the User's Guide, the best place to start with our software.

We supply a Virtual Machine (using VirtualBox) with Python bindings pre-installed, but also installation procedures for those who want to build the software natively, which should work on Linux and Mac (native installation on Windows is possible but still difficult at present unfortunately).

Please try it out and let us know, by mailing to CCP-PETMR-USERS at JISCMAIL.AC.UK<mailto:CCP-PETMR-USERS at JISCMAIL.AC.UK>, whether it worked for you and provide feedback.

Many thanks to our developers, especially Evgueni Ovtchinnikov (STFC) and Edoardo Pasca (STFC), and testers!

Enjoy

PS: This version is backwards compatible with the previous Release Candidate
