[Gate-users] Convert LMF output into projection

Dear Hanieh

Converting LMF to sinograms using MATLAB seems highly non-trivial to me. Instead I suggest that you look at the LMF-almost-ready-code for STIR, and the current ROOT support (on github). That should allow you to get LMF support into STIR natively, which would make others happy I presume. If you want to tackle that, please email questions to the stir-devel list.

Dear Uwe,
thanks for your guidance.
I want to convert lmf into projection but your guidance was about root format. I have simulated a cylindrical PET that is Siemens biograph 6
and as you know it's LMF output that can't be supported in STIR for reconstruction. So, I decided to convert lmf into projection then implement it in STIR.
my question is : how I can convert LMF TO projection?
Furthermore you said that is easy to use MATLAB, Could you please let me know about converting?
thanks a lot
Hanieh

Hello Hanieh Jozi,

did you consider to use the program

Bin_GATE_v1.0.c,

which you can also find inn the GATE-Web-Site?

http://www.opengatecollaboration.org/STIR
(see also attached file)

This allows you to bin events (or coincidences) stored in a
root file to projection data , which can than be reconstructed
with STIR.

If you are simulating a gamma camera, you could use the
projection files and reconstruct those directly.
See the EDUGATE example “SPECT_to_Reco_Release_2014”.

It does not use math lab but IDL/GDL and it should be easy to
convert to mathlab!

I hope this helps

Kind regards,

Uwe Pietrzyk

Dear GATE-users,

I need to convert list mode data from GATE into projection data and I know LMF support in STIR has never worked yet.
In my opinion ,it's a good idea to do it by MATLAB means : convert lmf data (.css) into projection by MATLAB then l use it for STIR.
Has anyone succeed?!
I would be very grateful for any help you could provide.
