[Gate-users] quarter-sphere PET scanner (Amir Ghabrial)

Hi Amir, hi Bryan,

I once played with a spherical or partial -spherical crystal arrangement.
Maybe you find something useful in the fragments I have attached.
I adjusted theta and phi via specifying aliases {CrystalTheStart} and
{CrystalDeltaThe}. You should probably have a look at the SPECTRO-
module of the current EduGATE-collection. I am working on a new
and updated release, but it might still be helpful as it is now.

All the best and kind regards,

Uwe

This would be relatively easy to do in your data analysis since you would just exclude detector data if the rsector (or equivalent) number is not within a certain range. The tradeoff to this is that your simulation would take longer than it would for simply a quarter-sphere, since it's calculating interactions for parts of the system that you will be discarding. The final data file size will be a great deal larger as well.

This would require some very careful planning and use of the visualization system to verify that you've placed the segments properly in your quarter-sphere arrangement, but the simulations themselves would run more quickly.
