Hi gate developers,
Sorry if you get this message twice. But I think it bounced for some reason, so I give it a second try.
I've been struggling with a bug today that gate crashes in qt mode for me after I've compiled it. The cause was that I like to start Gate as Gate -qt my_macro.mac especially when Im creating a geometry and like to see how it looks. However, it seems then like there is something drawn in the qt window before it is visible if one do it this way. And then qt crashes as has been noted by some geant users:
http://hypernews.slac.stanford.edu/HyperNews/geant4/get/visualization/777.html
It is possible to first start Gate -qt and then write /control/execute my_macro.mac. Then it works. But it is much more writing than just tabbing an old command while creating a geometry. So maybe someone that knows about the inner workings of Gate could use the solution provided in the link to fix the problem. (I tried but couldn't get it to work. But I think that is because Im new to gate and geant.)
As I understand the issue is new for qt5 according to the geant4 users that first observed the issue. However, I also had issues when using qt4 libraries.
Best,
Anders?
