[Gate-users] new install help

Hi Jim,

For Root, I used to add the following line to my .bash_profile file:

source /PATH_TO_ROOT/root_v5.34/bin/thisroot.sh


I since moved away from installing those packages and apps "manually" and rely on Macports instead (http://macports.org). It makes a lot of things simpler (but sometimes harder to troubleshoot when it fails!).
