yes I mean coding in Geant4 (C++) : Gate is just a set classes written in
C++ with Geant4 toolkit. You can look at G4 developer documentation.
For specific Gate classes, we unfortunately do not have a developer
documentation. However, by looking at some examples, it may required some
times but it is not so difficult. For adding your own specific type of
volume, you need to create a class that inherit (in C++ sense) from
GateVVolume, such as GateBox, GateCone, GateCylinder or
GateImageNestedParametrisedVolume (for a 3D voxelized volume). All in
source/geometry folder
