[Gate-users] From phantom to PET image

Hi,

1. What is the difference between voxelized source and phantom?

I am trying to create a realistic PET image using a phantom image (w/
various activities in different parts of anatomy). So the phantom can in
principle emit photon-pair at each voxel location......so if each voxel can
emit photon(s), the phantom would behave like a voxelized source, then?

To create a PET image, all I need is a voxelized source right?

2. I added a voxelized source to the world (w/ header file,
rangeTranslation table, and the phantom binary image). It seems to work
(Gate didn't complain), but I am not sure.
Is there any way I can visualize the source to make sure it is in the right
place?

3. If a phantom is actually a source, what is voxelized phantom for then?

Sorry for not being articulate my questions as I am so confused now.

Thanks,
Stephen
