Hi,
This is a bit beyond my knowledge, but have you tried using the multi-system feature of Gate v6.2? It may or may not suit your needs:

dear gate users,
I want to define a cylindrical PET with 3 different crystal, axial wise.
Let say, the axial length is 90 cm,
first 30 cm is different crystal,
2nd 30 cm is different crystal
3rd 30 cm is different crystal.
I have tried to defined 3 different modules, but when I try to attached the module1, module2, module3 (the name of my modules),
it says that (for module3 and module2), the module 1 is already attached..
At the end, I also want to attached a different dead-time for each cyrstal type..
is that possible to do this?
please help..
best regards
