[Gate-users] Poisson distribution

Dear all,

I am working on SPECT imaging and I want to model accurately the Poisson
noise.

The reasons of Poisson distribution are twofold:

- the random nature of the radioactive decay.
- the electronics which aggregate a background noise.

I think that the Poisson distribution due to the radioactive decay is
simulated in GATE. Can anyone confirm this please?

 Finally, there is a noise module in the digitizer, is this the right tool
to simulate the background noise due to the electronics? If so, I don't
understand the need to specify an energy distribution in addition to the
Poisson distribution for the time interval. If someone is familiar with
this noise module, could you please tell me more about it?
