The University of Sydney is Australia's premier University with an
outstanding global reputation for academic and research excellence, and

The National Imaging Facility <http://www.anif.org.au/> (NIF) is a
network of state-of-the-art imaging facilities with nodes in all capital
cities on the mainland of Australia. It provides a range of leading-edge
imaging instrumentation, advice and assistance in the optimal use of
biomedical imaging technologies to the Australian research community.
The University of Sydney and the Australian National Science and
Technology Organisation (ANSTO) operate the NIF node located at the
Brain and Mind Research Institute <http://sydney.edu.au/bmri> in Sydney
as a collaborative partnership. This node specialises in radiotracer
based molecular imaging techniques, such as PET and SPECT, which are
used to image the distribution and kinetics of radiopharmaceuticals in
the body.

required and assist them with the analysis of their imaging data. The
Facility Officer will also ensure that all research projects have the
appropriate ethical, radiological and biological clearances. He/she will
recommend to the NIF Node Director approvals on merit for the NIF
subsidised access scheme and organise appropriate educational and
training programs for potential end-users.
To succeed you will have a PhD degree in Physics, Electrical
Engineering, Computing Science or a related discipline. It is essential
that you have experience in PET and/or SPECT image processing, ideally
in a pre-clinical research context, and familiarity with scientific
software platforms such as IDL and Matlab. Excellent written and verbal
communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others
are also required. Previous research experience in medical imaging is
highly desirable.
