[Gate-users] problems with vgate

Dear gate users:
I am new to gate.When I  just started vGATE, I encounted  some problems:
1  I type "Gate" in terminal to start, it begins in "Idle" mode instead of "PreInit" mode. 
2  I am try to run the 'benchPET.mac' in benchmarks folder, many problems occurs. For instance, 
   I type "/gate/geometry/setMaterialdatebase../../GateMaterials.db",error:"GateMDBFile::GateMDBFile:could not find material database file '../../GateMaterials.db'. Computation aborted."
   I type "/gate/cylindricalPET/setMaterial Air" ,the error "Gate MaterialDatebase: could not find the definition for    material 'Air' in material files";  
   When I type "/gate/cylindricalPET/daughters/name head" , the error " command</gate/cylindricalPET/daughters/name head> not found" appears.
And some problems similar to these, I wonder whether it relate to the "Idle" mode, if not ,what is the reason? 
  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
