Hi

The ROOT file is filled during simulation and contains three reps:
- Hits: containing the news for hits,
- Singles: containing the news for digitizer (pulses),
- Coincidences: containing the news for the coincidences in the case of a PET simulation.

Hit is a snapshot of the physical interaction of a track within a sensitive region of a detector. All information: position and time of the step, energy of the track, energy deposition of the step...

The digitization consists of a series of signal processors. The output at each step along the series is defined as a pulse. At the end of the chain, the output pulses are named singles. These Singles realistically simulate the physical observables of a detector's response to a particle interacting with it.

You can find more explanations in the gate UserGuide.

Hope this helps,
Cheick

 Hello,

I am trying to model a micropet scanner.I was wondering how one can get the number of true events (prompts - random - scatter). I am using root v5.20 and my Browser displays three classes :
Coincidences, Singles and Hits. Does coincidence class refer to trues events? Or prompts? What is the difference between Single and Hits?
I am missing some understanding...
If anyone could help,
