Bonjour Li-Han,
As far as I understood your problem, you need to have two different
levels of sensitive volume where you can store hits informations as
energy, time, positions. With the "scanner" system, you have 5 levels
available, with no geometry constraints for the shape, to define your
detector. Two levels can be taken for your two types of detector and if
they are declared as "sensitive detector" and "attach" to a level of the
system, your informations will be saved for your Compton reconstruction
in a further analysis. A constraint which can be a problem is that a
level volume has to be fully enclosed in the upper level volume. If this
is a problem for modelling the two levels of your detectors (Si and
crystal), solutions can be found (for modelling phoswish module in PET
scanner, 2 levels of sensitive detector which are not included in their
geometry exist, so it can be done for the general case of the "scanner"
system of Gate).
The only output format available for such a system are ASCII and ROOT
format, there is no Interfile format with such system.
I hope that GATE will be appropriate for your modelisation. I don't know
if I was clear enough with my informations, so don't hesitate to ask
more questions about your simulation.
Bye
Sophie

Objet : [opengate-sc] simulation of Compton based SPECT on GATE
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have a question about simulating Compton based SPECT. I would like use
GATE, however I am afrad whether it has strong capability to do this
job.
The basic principle of Compton based SPECT,which does not have lead
collimater, is the photon hit on the first detector, such as silicon
dector, and then it hit on the sencond detector after compton
scattering. therefore, for the C-SPECT, I need record the position and
energy on both detector to determine the original photon location.
After I read the manual of GATE, I found there is not special SYSTEM for
the two detectors, and the output do not support to record the
information for the two detectors.
I am not a expert for GATE, therefor I send email to assistance. I hope
the current version of GATE could make this simulation, or I can modify
the source code of GATE under your guide
Sincerely
Li HAN
