Dear Sebnem,

Yes, you can reproduce realistic spatial resolution and sensitivity with
GATE. You can use the ECAT system, for example. In order to simulate
realistic spatial resolution with GATE for PET scanner, usually you need
to add some amount of blurring to the crystal identification. Please
refer to the following section in the user's guide:

Digitizer and readout parameters / Digitizer modules / Spatial blurring
for PET

This module accounts for the degradation due to processes that are not
explicitly simulated in GATE, like scintillation photon detection with
PS-PMT.

For realistic sensitivity, do not forget to specify the energy
resolution of your system, and possibly a global crystal quantum
efficiency. Please refer to the following section in the user's guide:

Digitizer and readout parameters / Digitizer modules / Crystal Blurring
for a block detector

Regards,

Claude
