I have sent the relevant code to a number of people. I recently enquired
about the status of their progress but got only a reply from Christian
Morel. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to make any progress on this
topic.

The code that I have probably only requires a few hours to get to work
(at least in a basic version where you do not need time info) if you
know about the LMF library. It's based on an early version developed in
Lausanne. I'd be incredibly happy if somebody takes this on. Of course,
that somebody should have/get permission to release software under the
LGPL.
