Hi Theodore,

Depending upon the level of detail in your model the ECAT system may be
fine, however if you need more detail and your system is a cylindrical
series of blocks cylindricalPET may be better. In either case GATE will
fairly accurately simulate the physics with in the geometry that you
have specified. On the other hand, the output for both systems is
somewhat limited and to get it into a format that is useful may be quite
difficult. At this point very few formats are available in GATE, but
GATE is still very young.

Subject: [gate-users] Supported Scanners

Greetings ,

I want to pose this question to all the gate developers, was I wrong to
try to model the GE Discovery ST using the ecat system ? From what I
have come to understand it seems I cannot use GATE to model the DST,
even if using the ecat is correct it means I cannot get a valid sinogram
output for the DST ...?

Could someone please clarify me, if using the ecat system for the DST is
wrong how can I go about modelling the DST with GATE ?

Kind regards
Theodore
