<div dir="ltr"><div>Hi Daniela,</div><div><br></div><div>Based on about ten minutes of searching, it looks like you'd need to run QEMU (<a href="https://www.qemu.org/">https://www.qemu.org/</a>) to emulate an x86 computer and then set up a Linux VM. Once you finish that, you would then have to install GATE via the usual process. Or, if you want a quick but messy and slow way to run vGATE, you would need to run a Linux VM in QEMU then install VirtualBox in the VM, and then run vGATE from that VirtualBox instance. Keeping track of everything would be challenging, and it would probably run very slowly, but it would probably work! I have no way of testing this out, though, unless someone has a spare $1300-$1600 CAD for a new M1-based Mac for me to use. ;)</div><div><br></div><div>Ideally, we'd have a GCC compiler for M1 hardware, but it looks like that's still very much in development based on what I was able to find while searching. Once the open source community has versions of cmake and GCC available for M1, we could install it natively on the computer and take advantage of its high performance compared to other laptop/low power chips. But, for now we're stuck with emulation!</div><div><br></div><div>Hope this helps a bit,</div><div><br></div><div>-Bryan McIntosh</div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Thu, Jun 3, 2021 at 6:02 PM <<a href="mailto:gate-users-request@lists.opengatecollaboration.org">gate-users-request@lists.opengatecollaboration.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">Send Gate-users mailing list submissions to<br>

Dear GATE experts,<br>
<br>
I was wondering whether someone managed to run vGate on a new mac M1. From what I understand the Oracle virtual box is incompatible. Is there any other option to solve this problem?<br>
<br>
Thanks in advance for your help.<br>
Kind regards,<br>
Daniela<br>
