Hello,

Regarding the histogram in Gate, we have to insert the number of photons per kev per cm2 per mAs or the Probability of Photons per keV?

I would like to measure the dose in a Cylinder phantom that is placed at 60 cm from the source. How can I correct the photons for the different distance?

Kind Regards,

Theodora

ITK is now listed as *required *in the *Package Required *section
(http://wiki.opengatecollaboration.org/index.php/
Compilation_Instructions_V8.0). Is it *actually *required - *or *can I just
keep the ITK compilation flag *off *when compiling GATE v8.0? I didn't have
any compilation error when the flag was turned off so I wanted to double
check that was okay.

2. The *Geant4* section states that GEANT4_INSTALL_DATA and
*GEANT4_USE_SYSTEM_CLHEP* are *mandatory*, which appears to contradict with
the earlier statement from the *CLHEP* section "Since the GATE V7.0
release, users can use the CLHEP embedded within each Geant4 distribution.
This case, the CMAKE flag GEANT4_USE_SYSTEM_CLHEP, which is OFF by default,
must stay OFF." Can I keep GEANT4_USE_SYSTEM_CLHEP *off*? Again there were
no compilation error so I would like to make sure I installed GATE
correctly.

Many thanks,

Ed
-------------- next part --------------
An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
URL: <http://lists.opengatecollaboration.org/pipermail/gate-users/attachments/20170724/6ed698ef/attachment-0001.html>

------------------------------

Message: 2
Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2017 21:31:14 +0000
From: Emmanuel Marfo <emmanuel.marfo@postgrad.otago.ac.nz>
To: "gate-users@lists.opengatecollaboration.org"
<gate-users@lists.opengatecollaboration.org>
Subject: [Gate-users] Fw: Help on Varying Tube current(mAs) using
Spekcalc Spectrum
Message-ID:
<SY3PR01MB15610A65067CBBDA84E45FE5F7BB0@SY3PR01MB1561.ausprd01.prod.outlook.com>

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

________________________________
From: Emmanuel Marfo
Sent: Monday, 24 July 2017 4:13 p.m.
To: Simon Rit
Subject: Re: [Gate-users] Help on Varying Tube current(mAs) using Spekcalc Spectrum

Dear Sir,

Please, From what you said I understand the number of particles to be Histories in my simulation and I also know 1mAs =6.25*10^15 electrons which are probably a number of particles for 1mAs.

The number of particles = Histories. however, I know increasing the number of histories decreases the statistical uncertainty in the simulation. SpekCalc provides a spectrum in number of photons per kev per cm2 per mAs @ 1 meter. So depending on your geometry, you can deduce a corresponding number of particles to simulate in Gate.
Simon

On Sat, Jul 8, 2017 at 10:54 AM, Emmanuel Marfo <emmanuel.marfo@postgrad.otago.ac.nz<mailto:emmanuel.marfo@postgrad.otago.ac.nz>> wrote:

Dear Gate-Users,

Please, does anyone has an idea how I could adjust tube current(mAs) in GATE using Spekcalc energy spectrum as the source.
