Hi Pietrzyk and Mojca,

Thanks so much for the quickly answers, I really appreciated that.

So, to be specific I am moving on to MacOS (But I still using Linux and I really want to use the same Gate version 7.2 (also the OpenGL_x11) on both system) and that is my first time using GATE on Mac system.

I still having a couple of questions…

I have been trying install the classic way (I have already installed the ROOT) but I still have got this CMake error (see attached). How can I fix it?

In the terminal of Linux to update my environment variables file I jus follow this command line: “gedit ~/.bashrc” How can I find this file on Mac?

Thanks so much

Paulo

I am facing a visualisation problem using GATE (It was installed via
MacPorts https://www.macports.org ) on macOS Sierra 10.12.4 system.
Apparently, the Gate install was successfully performed, except the
visualization (on OpenGL) that I still can not see anything. Could you help
me? Please, let me know if you need more information from my side.

The package from MacPorts needs a tiny bit of love.

I initially had some issues with the upgrade to version 8, my latest
attempt is here:
https://github.com/mojca/macports-ports/tree/gate8/science/gate

It builds against root6 since I had problems compiling against root5
on older machines.

You can give that one a try. If installation will be successful, I can
push the change to the official repository.

Examples are missing though and I wasn't sure what exactly to do about
that / how to properly install them.

to my knowledge, the GATE Version which is provided via MacPorts does not
include
any visualisation option. TO use visualisation you need to use the
“classical” installation
procedure outlined with the Installation Guide.

That's not true (but it is true that the version in the main
repository is slightly outdated).

If you run Gate.app, you get Qt by default, but other visualisations
should still work unless they were disabled in Geant4. If one
particular option doesn't work, I should be able to fix it in one way
or another.

(But do you really want X11?)
