[Gate-users] Unable to use two scintillators

Gate users,

I have been running a simulation using one 'sheet' of scintillator material
and an alpha source, and the results from this are fine. However, when I
try to insert another 'sheet' of scintillator material between the first
sheet and the pmt, my results are not correct.

I do re-define my detection surface to be between the second sheet and the
pmt. For the 2-layer simulations, it seems as though the optical photons
just bounce around within the first layer and get absorbed, without ever
traveling through the first layer, into the second layer, and ultimately to
the pmt.

Additionally, I define both volumes to level1 of the scanner system, and
attachCrystalSD for both, yet I get this error message:

[systems/scanner/level1::IsValidAttachmentRequest]:
     A volume creator ('LayerOne') is already attachced to this system
component
[systems/scanner/level1::SetInserter]:
     Ignoring attachment request

Does anyone have any advice for why my optical photons become 'trapped'
when I add a layer? Is there a surface definition I am missing/misusing?
What does this error message mean, and how does it affect my simulation?

Please help, I am trying to use these models for my Master's thesis.

Thank you,

-Amy
