<div dir="ltr"><div>Uwe is absolutely correct; that's the same technique that I used in my M.Sc work to characterize LSO background radiation in PET scanners. The exact code that I used in GATE 5.x is listed in my thesis (available from <a href="https://mspace.lib.umanitoba.ca/handle/1993/4461" target="_blank">https://mspace.lib.umanitoba.ca/handle/1993/4461</a>) in the appendix. It should still work in GATE 7.x, just make sure that the volume names that you choose are appropriate for your scanner. I calculated the intrinsic activity for LSO to be 276 Bq/cm^3, so be sure to adjust your activity accordingly to match the crystal volume in your simulation. Keep in mind that this uses an ion source simulation, which can be very slow.
