If hits are there, and you can see photons in the hits, then something is wrong in the Digitizer. I comment from my memory, not so sure of the exact location of the output. Gate 6.x stopped having optical photons examples, which were there in Gate 5. Try to get the optical photons example from Gate 5. I think as is, they will not work in Gate 6.2, but you can try to run it and port the optical photon example to Gate 6.2. If you get them working, contribute to Gate 6.x development by suggesting re-addition of these examples to Gate 6.x developer team in a modified form.

Generally I remember in Gate 5 that there is concept of surfaces/interfaces between the crystal and PMT/APD (which stay as a passive box anyway) and photons passing this surface, which at some time was not very clear to me – as far as I could understand, you detect only the photons passing the interface, all else are trapped in your crystal, which has a good physical reason. I do not see anything like interfaces in your simulation. Interface has to have n-coefficient defined between the surfaces.

Moreover, if you turn to UV photons, you no longer sum up simplified gamma interaction hits in your module – you have traded your keV photons for single eV photons! I think to have BOTH keV photons and eV photons in your simulation, with different adders, you need to write two separate ones, and run them separately. With the same SEED (default) you will get the same history for both simulation.

Kind regards

Marcin Balcerzyk

Universidad de Sevilla.
