Hi, The gate_env.(c)sh files are totally directory independent, you can source its from any directory, the result is the same (and this environment file automatically source the env.(c)sh of the geant4 libraries if you correctly set the G4INSTALL environment variable before as it is mentioned in the gate installation recommendations (fix it in your bashrc ou cshrc file for example, as for the GATEHOME and G4VERSION variables)). Then the $GATEHOME environment variable MUST be the absolute path of the gate source directory, not a relative path... and not $PWD And then if you want to launch the Gate application, just add the path $GATEHOME/bin/G4SYSTEM in your $PATH environment variable (that is global) (you must adapt the G4SYSTEM variable to your own) (and fix it in your bashrc or cshrc file too). If those 3 items are correctly done you will be able to launch Gate in any directory just by typing 'Gate', as for any other application under unix systems. (and sourcing your environment file do not create your Gate binary file or your 'Gate command', it has been created during the compilation and will not disappear...) Hope this helps !
