<div dir="ltr">Hello Allan,<br><br>The GATE website says that it works with gcc3.2 and 4.1 because they are the only versions that were tested.<br>But without too much risks, it should work with the latest versions of gcc.<br>
I am currently running GATE on Ubuntu8.04 with gcc4.2.3 and it works great, there is no difference compared to the 4.1 version of gcc.<br>So I think you don&#39;t really need to downgrade your gcc, maybe you will just have a bit more warning compiling GATE and stuff.<br>

workstation and am intending to put GATE on it. I note the gcc that comes with
the system reports itself as being version 4.3.1; since the new GATE website
says version &nbsp;4.0.0 requires gcc 3.2 - 4.1, do I need to "downgrade"
my gcc to be in that range?</span></font></p>
